Moms Helping Moms Foundation, the community-based not-for-profit organization that distributes diapers to babies living in low-wage families in the New Jersey area, has been selected as one of 23 national recipients of a 2018 Funds for Change grant awarded by the National Diaper Bank Network(NDBN).
“NDBN’s Funds for Change grants help diaper banks reach more families by investing in organizations that we recognize as growing community assets and strengthening that investment with technical support for nonprofit organizations through our national network,” said Susan Van Ness, NDBN chief of programs. “NDBN is very pleased to present Moms Helping Moms Foundation with a $2500 grant to further its mission to serve struggling families in New Jersey.”
According to Jerusha Oleksiuk, Director of Development, this grant will help Moms Helping Moms Foundation (MHMF) increase community awareness about the organization, increase donations, drive volunteerism, and expand MHMF’s agency network. Specifically, MHMF will use the grant to acquire quality communication and marketing materials, enhance website functionality, and improve search engine optimization to help individuals learn more about MHMF.
In total, NDBN will award up to $100,000 in grant funding to member diaper banks operating in 15 U.S. states. However, the net impact of the Funds for Change exceeds $200,000, because NDBN grant recipients are required to secure equal funding from local supporters, thereby doubling the value of the grants upon implementation.
The 23 national grants awarded in 2018 range in size from $1,000 to $10,000, and went to both newly formed and established diaper banks, located in communities throughout the country.
MHMF has grown tremendously since its first diaper drive in 2011. In 2017, MHMF distributed 150,000 diapers to over 11,500 families living in the New Jersey area. MHMF’s mission is simple: provide the basics so babies can have a safe, happy and healthy start. Together with their supporters MHMF is working to end diaper need and fight childhood poverty in New Jersey.
